Pietra Fitness offers flow-style classes in which you steadily move from pose to pose while pausing at times to hold various positions. There are a variety of levels available to help you meet your personal needs and goals. All of them offer exercises to lengthen and strengthen the body while nourishing the soul with prayer. Choose one level or a combination of levels to customize your workouts.
Gentle: This calm and relaxing workout is appropriate for a wide range of ages and abilities. It is done on a floor mat and will incorporate both floor work and standing exercises with slow transitions. The peaceful pace and movements gently promote strength, flexibility, and improved balance. Great for seniors, a gentle start for the day, a wind down for evenings or for those off days to complement your normal workouts.
Level 1: Building upon the basic movements utilized in a Gentle class, Level 1 revitalizes your body and soul with a combination of floor work, standing exercises, and balancing postures. The transitions between floor and mat-work are quicker and more frequent than in a Gentle class, and strengthening postures may be held for longer periods of time. Level I classes are designed to leave you feeling strong, relaxed, and invigorated.
Level 2: The most challenging class, Level 2 builds upon the fundamental postures introduced in Gentle and Level 1, and focuses on refining the poses and building endurance. Challenging sequences and strong transitions are incorporated, making it a great workout to try after you are comfortable with Level 1. This class is designed to promote muscle strength and control, as well as flexibility, balance, and improved muscular endurance.
Chair: This class is practiced sitting in a chair or standing while using a chair for support. It is for those who are not comfortable in a traditional class with floor mats because of age, instability, or other limitations. The gentle movements of a chair class promote strength, flexibility, and stability.
