The Seven Days of Creation
The Pietra Fitness KIDS Seven Days of Creation Series will bring to life each of the Days of Creation from the book of Genesis with its simple kid-friendly meditations. In addition, it will introduce exercises that will strengthen and stretch different muscle groups in the body. Featuring the beautiful music of Gregorian Chant for Kids!
Welcome to Pietra Kids! In this 29-minute class, kids will stretch and strengthen their backs, shoulders, and quadriceps, and pause for two bodily prayer poses to exclaim: “Lord, in Your power, You turn darkness into light.” The just-for-fun pose in this class is an extended leg reach, which will challenge both balance and flexibility. The meditation is on the creation of Light and encourages children to consider the power and goodness of God.

Kids will practice a variety of exercises that focus on strengthening the back, spine, and shoulders as they enjoy the peaceful music and Maria’s calming voice. The just-for-fun pose is plank pose while jumping the feet in and out, a great whole-body strengthener. The prayers and Scripture describe the second day of creation, “The waters above, the waters below,” and encourage children to praise God for the gift of air and breath He created by separating the waters.

Kids will practice deep breathing, gratefulness, Pietra Fitness flows and lunges as they follow Nila through this class that focuses on the quadriceps and the spine. They will have the opportunity to test out their core strength, balance, and flexibility in the just-for-fun pose: open-legged V-sit. The prayers and Scripture focus on the third day of creation in which God separates the land from the water and creates living plants on the earth--what a gift to us all!

The prayers and Scripture describe the 5th day of creation when God created the creatures of the air and sea and encourages children to notice and be thankful for all of God’s creatures.

On this wonderful day in the creation story, the kids will focus on how we are made in the image and likeness of God, yet we are all different. God loves each person and gives everyone specific gifts for a special purpose. Beautiful orchestral music is playing while the class moves through exercises that focus on the chest and hips.

The just-for-fun pose is Arabesque which will further work the legs as well as balance. The meditation is on holy rest and encourages children to learn to rest in God.
